Scheduling & Rules

Our only co-ed league is currently playing at Penn Valley Park on Mondays April - October. Each season targets a Round-Robin format, with each team playing each other in a one-hour game, followed by a playoff finale to determine champions and winner of prizes such as a $100 gift card to Brickhouse our sponsor bar with Monday specials for us. If you play in all seasons, you’re eligible to compete for our Crystal Cup traveling trophy at the end of the Fall Season.

REGISTRATION: First teams with dues paid will confirm their spot.

Game Length: A game is usually around one hour, where the umpire will announce the last inning around the 50 minute mark. We ask that teams arrive early so we can stay on schedule and possibly start earlier in the case of forfeit or if the earlier games are a run-rule spread (10 runs after 5 innings, or 15 after 3).

ROSTERS & LINEUPS: It’s ideal to have five ladies and five guys to field a team, but we allow 4:5. We recommend having a larger roster to account for absences. The batting order needs to alternate. Please complete a line-up card and help be sure everyone has signed the waiver. League officials/umpire may ask for lineup card to verify all have signed our waiver.

EQUIPMENT: Men use a 12” ball and women can use 11”. Teams use their own bats and balls, but all bats and balls must be marked as ASA/USA Softball Certified. Senior League bats are not allowed, unless you are over 40 and approved by other teams and umpire. Field-prep, lights,, and umpire are provided by with League membership, but we need help putting bases away at the end of the last game. Please let us know if interested in helping setup the field to receive a league discount.

COUNT, COURTESY FOULS, HOME RUNS: Batters start with a 1-1 count. After two strikes there is one courtesy foul, but the second foul after two strikes results in an out. Home-runs are no more than two differential; after this, each ball hit over the fence in fair territory will be an out. We strongly discourage hard hits up the middle, and this can be called outs with or without warning. In the field, we want to avoid any risk of injury, so please hold any wild throws, especially if it’s a close play.

RAIN-OUTS & FORFEITS: We’ll communicate rain-outs on Facebook and email, and any updates to the schedule can be seen below. Rainout games will be scheduled towards the end of the season. Let us know ASAP if you don’t have enough players, we’ll have to confirm with the opposing Team Manager if we can reschedule, or else it will be a forfeit.

SPORTSMANSHIP: Our goal is to work with others to make the game safe and fun. We’ll continue establishing our culture where victory comes second to safe play and camaraderie. So, reach out to your buds and join us! We’ll help place you on a team if you’re looking to sign-up as a free agent.
